Oswald Chambers -May 7th-

"Which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it...." LUKE 14:28
Our Lord was not referring here to a cost which we have to count, but to a cost which He has already counted. The cost was those thirty years in Nazareth, those three years of popularity, scandal, and hatred, the unfathomable agony He experienced in Gethsemane, and the assault upon Him at Calvary--the central point upon which all of time and eternity turn. Jesus Christ has counted the cost. In the final analysis, people are not going to laugh at Him and say, "This man began to build and was not able to finish." (14:30)
Repentance is a promise. Obedience is the action.

Do you ever get tired of the ordinary? I do all the time. This time maybe it's just the season I'm in (probably is, after all what is life if not a series of changing emotional/spiritual/theological seasons?), because it's almost summer break. Two weeks left of school. I think God designed this time of year to feel transitional and hopeful. So part of me understands why I feel the way I do.
The rest of me is totally confused and ready to do something drastic. What? Oh, I don't know.
"Family" Problems

Going to the gym for the rememberence of Grover.
Jared — November 16, 2009 - 6:11pm
D-now weekends are over. I had a blast. The students at both weekends were amazing!
I've found my reason for going to the gym. Is it to look good for the ladies? No. (However, this is definitely a bonus that I am glad to accept.) Is it to lengthen my life? No. (*see previous parenthesis*) Is it that I in fact enjoy a good workout? Oh, heck no! Is it that I find exercise to be good for my soul? No. (But this is in fact true for me)
So... what is it?
Oh the things to do!

In the life of a pizza delivery guy...
Jared — October 30, 2009 - 10:14pm
Yes. I deliver pizzas to help pay the bills. And yes, it's lame. I don't like it one bit. One question in life...
Why is it, on average, the rich side of town tips worse than the trailer parks I deliver to?
